
A
versatile classical singer with many years of solo performance
experience, and her repertoire ranges from Baroque to Broadway. She
draws from her linguistic skills an enhanced ability to communicate
the classical repertoire to audiences and students alike. A native
of Switzerland, Pierrette grew up in a multi-lingual environment and
trained as a translator before gaining a BA in Music from Reading
University and a Diploma in Opera Performance Studies from the
University of London. She pursues her vocal development with the
acclaimed international soprano and Professor of Voice at the Royal
Academy of Music, Alison Pearce. Pierrette has given recitals in
Britain as well as her native Switzerland. Her oratorio performances
include Dvorak's Mass in D, Mozart's Coronation Mass as well as
works by Bach, Handel and Gibbons. Her operatic roles include Kate
in Britten's Owen Wingrave and Antonia's Mother in Offenbach's Tales
of Hoffmann with Abbey Opera. She has also performed staged excerpts
from Cosi fan tutte, Walton's The Bear, The Magic Flute, Eugene
Onegin and Falstaff as part of concerts and summer courses in
Poland, Italy and Great Britain. Future engagements include Mozart's
Requiem as well as voice and harp recitals in Britain and
Switzerland. Pierrette is based in Reading, where she has a
successful teaching practice. She also coaches singers and
accompanists in French, German and Italian pronunciation, both
privately and on summer courses. She is a member of the Incorporated
Society of Musicians.
